Hewlett-Packard Building 2 Seismic Upgrade

< Back to Portfolio

A 200,000 SF structural and non-structural seismic upgrade in a fully operational manufacturing facility on HP’s Corvallis campus. The project consists of structural steel braced frame upgrades, structural connection upgrades, the installation of utility flex loops, and the installation of approximately 4,000 total braces to the existing utility and process systems.

This project brings utility infrastructure bracing in Building 2 up to date with HP seismic standards. The utility systems, including HVAC ductwork, heating and chilled water systems, process gases, process liquid chemicals, electrical conduits, and fire sprinkler piping required specific and custom bracing designs and construction due to the owner’s preference for the most exacting detail.  Building each brace precisely to detail in this complex environment required the strict attention of the installer as well as quality control checking of each location, to assure conformance to the documents.  The project also addresses several structural deficiencies discovered in the engineer’s structural survey. Both structural and utility systems bracing work were mounted simultaneously.
